Brady Warrick - EMT / Firefighter

A beautiful city along I-29 & US 212. Located 180 miles west of Minneapolis, 100 miles North of Sioux Falls, 140 miles from Fargo. On your way to the Black Hills from the Mall of America or from Canada to Texas . Where does that put you? Some say the middle of nowhere or as Firefighter Brady Warrick calls it “home”. Watertown, South Dakota is in the middle of nowhere but it is South Dakota’s rising star! Brady Warrick may not be as famous as another Watertowniean…Terry Redlin. Most know Terry Redlin from his famous outdoor themes and wildlife artwork. If you’re visiting Watertown make sure to stop by the Redlin Art Center.

Head south along I-29 50 miles and that is where Brady Warrick served time with South Dakota State University (GO JACKRABBITS) in Brookings. Brady received his degree in Bachelors of Science – Economics with a minor in Accounting. He went on south another 115 miles down 1-29 to get his Master in Business Administration with the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. 2009 marks the 30th Anniversary of the Dakota Dome home of the Coyotes.

What brought Firefighter Warrick to central Iowa? A couple of things, a job and his wanna-be big brother Deputy Chief Dan Gubbins had made residence in Polk City years earlier. Not only did they grow up together but stories have been told about them sharing a trailer house while attending SDSU. Firefighter Warrick has been consistent about one thing…his aviator sunglasses or as he deems himself…The Aviator Sunglass Master! From the college days to today Firefighter or The Aviator Sunglass Master Warrick is to be sure and have a spare even within his bunker gear.

Brady has been married to Beth for 4 years which is also approximately how long they have lived in Polk City and how long he has been a member with the Polk City Fire Department. They are the proud parents of William Jack Warrick (6 months old) and a yellow lab named Celly. He currently is the controller for Walsh Door and Hardware Company. Brady also works part time for a local CPA doing taxes and other financial planning.

“PCFD is a big commitment and I am proud to be on the department, it‘s very rewarding.” states Firefighter Warrick. Brady was the departments first test subject with the Northern Polk County Regional Training Academy from start to finish. After attending the academy he now holds the following certifications: Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Operations, and Emergency Medical Technician – Basic along with various NIMS credentials.

Firefighter Warrick would be an excellent firefighter to “have your back”? Not only does the job get done in the safest manner but he will never run out of air first. The PCFD put on a Consumption Drill: search & rescue, forcible entry and climbing a ladder while all on air, once the low alarm bell rang the member would sit down and finish out the bottle of air. Firefighter Warrick took a 4500 psi air bottle and got 1 hour and 11 minutes out of one bottle…amazing!
