CPR - AED - First Aid Training

The Polk City Fire Department offers in-house CPR, AED, and First Aid training classes from the American Red Cross. These instructors are paramedics and are certified to teach by the Red Cross. Instructor lead courses, online courses, and skills courses are available. We provide certifications for healthcare providers, non-healthcare providers, recertifications, and Hands Only CPR. Certifications available are BLS, ALS, PALS, First Aid & CPR/AED Skills.

Basic Life Support
This course is for healthcare providers that teaches adult, child, and infant CPR/AED, as well as choking management for adults, children, and infants. Healthcare providers generally work for emergency medical services, hospitals, medical/dental clinics, etc.

Advanced Life Support

This course is for healthcare providers that teaches advanced, high-quality care for life-threatening emergencies like cardiac arrest, stroke, and respiratory issues. It covers ECG rhythm interpretation, pharmacology, electrical therapies, and teamwork.

Pediatric Life Support

This course is for healthcare providers that trains providers in recognizing and treating respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiac arrest using high-quality team-based care for pediatric patients.

First Aid/CPR/AED

This course is for non-healthcare providers that teaches life-saving skills for cardiac and breathing emergencies, burns, and injuries. It covers CPR, AED usage, and First Aid for adults, children, or infants through in-person or blended learning.

Family & Friends CPR

Family & Friends CPR is a classroom course that teaches Hands Only CPR and choking management for adults, children, and infants, as well as some basic first aid. This program is a non-credentialed option.

Class Scheduling & Skills Scheduling

To register for a class or to schedule skills testing email cpr@polkcityfd.com. A certified CPR Instructor will coordinate with you. All classroom courses require a minimum of four (4) participants. No minimum for skills.

***A class roster must be provided to the instructor at least 7 days prior to the scheduled class/skills day to confirm your course.

Classroom & Skills - $100/person

Skills Testing (online class) - $60/person

Community Courses

CPR/AED & First Aid - Classroom & Skills - $150/person

CPR/AED Only - Classroom & Skills - $125/person

First Aid Only - Classroom & Skills - $100/person

CPR/AED & First Aid - Skills Testing (online class) - $80/person

CPR Only - Skills Testing (online class) - $70/person

First Aid Only - Skills Testing (online class) - $70/person

Family & Friends Class (no certification) - $50/person

Instructor Travel (classes outside of Polk City) - $50/hour

Cancellation Policy - Please email your instructor 24 hours prior to your scheduled course if you need to cancel. No refunds will be issued if a participant does not show up on the scheduled course date. All checks can be made out to the Polk City Fire Department and funds must be received no later than 7 days prior to the scheduled class.
